Certainly mislabelled.... Probably from New Caledonia.

Thanks a lot Dan and Larry for that long shot. It is indeed Strongylurus spinosus.
I had a heavy feeling something was wrong with that beetle's label. The error was made 30 years ago. I appreciate your help and great perspicacity.

Yes Dan, you are on to something, the antennal proportions match well.

Look at the photos of Strongylurus spinosus from New Caledonia... some similarity maybe.

I will keep looking for a name. As I said, I don't trust the data. So it is especially difficult.

Gontran, nothing jumps out, I think it might be Hesperophanini?
