Thanks a lot Dan and Larry for that long shot. It is indeed Strongylurus spinosus.
I had a heavy feeling something was wrong with that beetle's label. The error was made 30 years ago. I appreciate your help and great perspicacity. |

Yes Dan, you are on to something, the antennal proportions match well.
Might be mis-labeled,

Look at the photos of Strongylurus spinosus from New Caledonia... some similarity maybe. |

I will keep looking for a name. As I said, I don't trust the data. So it is especially difficult. |
