Hi everyone,
I found this one next to Leliefontein in Northern Cape. I think It might be the genus Callixanthospila but It doesn't match with the 3 described species ? Thanks |

Ressemble beaucoup au genre Capederces. Mais n'est pas l'espèce hauseri et n'est pas non plus le genre Callixanthospila.
Bonne soirée

Posted - 26/12/2016 : 13:21:56 Good idea, but Clytus hottentottus is another species, surely not a Clytus but not this specimen either. The first species might belong to Anubis today.

If I were you, I would contact Adlbauer for major security and I describe this species. |

Posted - 19/12/2016 : 15:49:46 Hi, thanks for those answers. It's very interesting to hear about this species C. hottentotus, but indeed it doesn't look like a Clytus. By any chance, do you have a picture of this species with you?
I'm sorry I forgot to indicate the siez. I'm not at home now so I have to confirm this but It was about 10 mm. |

Posted - 19/12/2016 : 14:49:38 Please provide the size of this specimen.
Most Callichromatini have a distinctive antennal scape which has an externally acute apex. I am not familiar with many African species, so please don't consider me to be an expert on them. |

Posted - 18/12/2016 : 16:44:39 Hi GuilhemD,
I've seen many specimens (including an holotype) like this in the Iziko Museum collection, under the name "Clytus hottentotus". It seems that most of them were collected in Namaqualand as well. But it's true that it looks like more to a Callixanthospila than a Clytus...
After titan, the last mention of this species was in 1912 (http://titan.gbif.fr/sel_genann1.php?numero=35065 ) so maybe if it is this species...it might be worth to change its taxonomical position ... |
