Nominotypical ssp. was described from Yunnan and in Obayashi & Niisato opus it is written that:
"We have not seen enough material for comparison and therefore tentatively treat this form as a subspecies.."
var. prescutellaris sensu Pic: "Elytres relativement courts et larges (forme typique), parfois un peu relevés vers l'écusson, ou bien élytres plus longs et fortement surélevés vers l'écusson.
"

And I don't believe that the Pic had more material for comparison than the Japanese authors
Most probably simply Pyrocorennys latipennis (Pic, 1927) is right combination, I agree.
But no one establish synonimy with this name formally (in fact).

or simply Pyrocorennys latipennis (Pic, 1927) ? I do not undersand why sp. and ssp. could occur in same area.

Pyrocorennys latipennis prescutellaris (Pic, 1946) as it seems to me.
