Concerning this topic, there seems to be some misconstruing ?

In the end of the year 2012, There appeared a new synonym "Mimothestus luteicornis", this is why we plan to make that paper.
For all the related "species" are from China, we deal with this series of synonyms together by that chance.
Due to our request for that study, we finally can see the photo of the type of Mecynippus ciliatus and Monochamus rondoni which post here. (The former one is provided by Max, and the latter is taken by Mr. Ohbayashi and Yamasako), we also need to thank Andreas for providing the remaining one.

In addition, parts of the opinion of the synonym seems mentioned by Mr. Holzschuh several years ago in other ways.

Of course, we also reference the link of this topic for respect this discussion.

I have it from Laos, not so rare (I gave some to Gerard and Robert). I will try to have more specimens in next April.

For me this are the same sps, I think elytral apex and pronotum spines are individual variations, like the pubescens, but I know the type pictures only, there is no further material available for me. It seem to be a rare sps.

I moved this topic in the secret section.
It seems to me to observe a variation in the apical spine of the elytra.
Is the pronotal spines also variable (bowed, right)?
I have no many specimens in order to clarify it....

Maybe a clearance of Breuning's delirium - one case of 100's of Breuning's entanglements ?

Thank you, I understand now.

This species has nothing to do with Thestus and is a clear synonym of Mecynippus ciliatus
Xavier Posted - 15/03/2013 : 18:19:46
What do you mean , Francesco ?
Francesco Posted - 15/03/2013 : 16:36:50
I think Mimothestus delkeskampi is another Breuning's delirium...

Now I can solve the problem with this animal, it's Mimothestus delkeskampi Breuning, 1961, here the HT from ZMB

I just read the description of Mecynippus ciliatus (Gahan, 1888) (= Monochamus), and for me, it's working.
Francesco Posted - 27/09/2012 : 21:27:06
I too; however, its description is in the library (273-274).

Hi Fancesco, I have one specimen from Hainan Is.
I also feel strange at its antennal hairs. Maybe the M. rondoni is a junior synonym? if we are able to know Mecynippus ciliatus's true face.
