Francisco and whomever...
can you make any comments regarding the Cerosterna on Larry's website, particularly the images for Cerosterna pollinosa?

I believe the specimens from Thailand are luteopubens.
My specimen (Sabah) is possibly pollinosa, however you note that there are distinct elevated ridges on the elytra. I have a specimen from Sumatra that was identified by Hüdepohl as pollinosa, but is without the ridges.

Cerosterna pollinosa?
44mm Sabah, Malaysia , male.
I have a female... Sabah, also, at 50mm
The elytra appear to have distinct ridges, although I believe it is more accurate to say that the elytra have slightly elevated costae with very dense pubescence arranged in patterns that make the elytra appear as if they are not smooth.

Hi Dan, the first two specimens from Thailand come from my site, where they were correctly identified as luteopubens (cf. here).
The other two specimens from Thailand are two luteopubens as well.
pollinosa is greenish grey (typ. form) or ochreous (var. sulphurea) with elytral granules small and covered and pubescence
luteopubens is dorsally light yellow, ventrally grey, with elytral granules large and hairless.
The presence of ridges was not mentioned. |
