Yes indeed it is not improbable! However, what can be disturbing are the pronotum spots! That is to say that carbonaria logically .... after Allard and other authors and from the specimens that I could see is almost devoid or completely devoid of pronotal spots? You would have to look at the prosternal and mesosternal projections of the two species in order to slice ..... of course if it is possible? |

Hmmm. It matches no other variabilis in size and markings in my collection as i've just checked.
It does resemble in size to carbonaria... perhaps Sternotomis carbonaria coeruleomicans.

Oui cette insecte est clairement une forme de S variabilis, j'en ai un provenant de RDC (Zaïre) qui y ressemble beaucoup

from this station it normally could belong to S. bohemani ssp. but I don't know all the ssp of this species.
By following the work by Allard, this specimen seems strangely very close to S. variabilis ? (which is known from Zaire !) |
