It seems to be another Jordanoleiopus.
A small beetle, 3.4 mm. It has too much of yellow pattern to be called just J. albosuturalis.
So, a puzzle again. |

Oui je vais regarder ce que je peux faire pour les photos mais étant mal équipé en scan je vais voir ce que je peux faire . |

Thank you very much, Jérôme. The characters used in the Breuning's paper were pretty vague, and it seemed there was a sort of mess in classification. But one has often such a feeling when reads his works. I did not know the situation is that bad.
Anyway, could you please share available type photos of Jordanoleiopus in private? There are more specimens from traps. |

Bonjour
Alors cette bête ressemble beaucoup à J (Polymistoleiopus) monoxenus dont j'ai la photo du type, mais comme vous dites aussi il ressemble à flavomaculatus . Cependant à mon humble avis flavomaculatus me semble être un synonyme de J monoxenus ? Par ailleurs il ressemble aussi à J (Polymistoleiopus) rufotibialis Breuning décrit du Cameroun dont j'ai aussi la photo du type! Enfin, l'espèce J gabonicus (dont j'ai aussi la photo du type)= monoxenoides qui est un synonyme n'est pas à exclure et même il semblerait que ce soit l'espèce qui s'en rapproche le + !
Et si ça peut vous rassurer le tiers de mes Jordanoleiopus est resté indéterminé.... |

I am placing here a bit better photo taken with a microscope.
With the ID key in an old paper by Breuning (1958) I get sg. Polymitoleiopus for this beetle. The first statement for this subgenus sounds like "Élytres ornés de dessins brun foncé ou noirs sur fond clair." It is not very clear statement, when the ratio between the dark and light parts is 50:50, but if I stay with it, I arrive at Jordanoleiopus (Polymitoleiopus) monoxenus (Kolbe, 1894). The description of pronotum with thin and sharp side tubercles (almost hooks) fits also well.
With the antithesis, I arrive at Jordanoleiopus (Polymitoleiopus) flavomaculatus Hunt & Breuning, 1957, which was described however from the Rep. of South Africa.
So, it might be J. monoxenus, but there are some differences from the description, and the major problem - many new species have been described since 1958... According to the Titan database, the holotype is in Berlin. |
