I haven't seen any type material of Spinosodus spinicollis so I cannot comfirm the identifications of this species (even description and drawing by Breuning & De Jong are a bit accordingly)), but for the pictured ones is Bulbolmotega sumatrensis is reliable name recently. |

There are several potential problems that we must remember.
1) There are "many" mis-identified species in Makihara's book. Do not trust it without verification.
2) Also, who identified the specimens in "LIPI Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia". Did that person study holotypes preserved in Western institutions. Again, do not trust without verification. Makihara could have identified his specimens based on mistakes made by someone else.
3) Lastly, anything Breuning described must be carefully verified. The holotype should be in Dresden. It's not impossible that Breuning decribed this species twice in two different tribes.  |
