Very little creature - about 2.5 mm, S Vietnam, Bin`Fyok prov. - this is one of the smallest longhorn that fell into my hands.
In my opinion, it is Miaenia.
I will be grateful for clarification  |

I do not think it is Miaenia (Tonkinomiaenia) tonkinensis (Pic, 1944) which has no recurved spines and only 2 transversal white bands differently arranged. |

Dominique and Jean-Philippe Roguet have discovered that Sciades Pascoe, 1864 is preoccupied by Sciades Müller & Troscher, 1849 (fish).
Article at request.
Consequently, all Sciades must be inserted in the genus Miaenia Pascoe, 1864. |

I'd say yes.
By reading the genera present in Vietnam, your species can only belong to this genus.
Moreover, it belongs to a subgenus characterised by elongate prothorax, as Estoliops or the Micronesian Nonymoides.
Unfortunately, I have neither descriptions of the Vietnamese species. But... they were originally described as Exocentrus (S. binhanus) and Aegocidnus (S. tonkinensis). Then, Breuning (1958) transferred bihanus to Aegocidnus.
According to Pascoe, Aegocidnus has the 2nd and 3rd joint scarcely longer than scape, while here they are twice as long as scape as in Miaena.
This subgenus is not present in Vietnam, but Tonkinomiaena has born as subgenus of Miaena!
Hence, I think that Sciades (Tonkinomiaenia) tonkinensis Pic, 1944 can be the right ID, as you rightly identified it. |
