For Breuning (1935), Ereis anthriboides Pasc. has the forehead more than twice as high as it is wide, not even as wide as half of one of the lower lobes of the eyes. So, I do not know. |

Yes, Breuning's key is hard to interpret. I think he meant the narrowest part of the forehead (between the upper lobes of eyes), but even then, the 2nd phrase of his statement is still strange with regards to this specimen. Anyway, I attach an image of some E.anthriboides taken in MNHN, Paris.

Gahan (1907) on Ereis sumatrensis: Closely resemble E. anthriboides Pasc in form and structure, and differing from that species by the color of the pubescence and the markings of the elytra and other parts. The pubescence is yellowish-grey rather than brownish in color; the pronotum has a narrow black band, sometimes interrupted in the middle, on each side, the elytra are marked with a number of small bluish white spots distinctly and rather widely separated from each other, and with a few black spots.
So it seems E. sumatrensis has quite different marking? |

Yes, sure: with "the elytra are marked with a number of small bluish white spots distinctly and rather widely separated from each other, and with a few black spots ", E.sumatrensis is different. |

I have a bad picture of E. sumatrensis (det. Breuning), probably done in Brussels (IRSNB).
