There is no reported Stenoderus from Solomon Island, so I suppose this species is undescribed ?
Guadalcanal, 13,8 mm.

Syllitus : yeux de forme ovale et grossièrement facettés;

This species looks very similar to Syllitus bicolor Schwarzer I collected in New Britain, and for sure belongs to Syllitus.
The shape of eyes round or oval is not clear for differentiation, but the faceting of eyes is ok; otherwise, Stenoderus is distributed in Australia only.

Also very close to Syllitus insularis Gressitt, 1959.
Be carefull while descripting a new species...

Thank you Andreas. You are almost right ! but your observation put me on the right track. This is Syllitus insularis Gressitt, 1959.
It differs from Syllitus bicolor (Schwarzer, 1924) in having a pitchy head above and very shiny head and prothorax (not very shiny in bicolor according to Gressitt, 1959).
The eyes are coarsely facetted comparatively with Stenoderus.
The tribe is Stenoderini.
Description avortée .
