My friend shot 2 pictures of this species with her handphone.
Image quality is quite poor, but can tell if it is a Gyaritus?

I do not think it is a Gyaritini, but rather a Desmiphorini. Check genus Phlyarus Pascoe, 1858 or Mimogyaritus Fisher, 1925 ?

Thanks so much for the correction! Having looked up the descriptions of these 2 genera, I think it is a Mimogyaritus (as Phlyarus has ribbed elytra and is without elytral tubercles). This is interesting, as Mimogyaritus is monotypic, and our specimen here seems a bit different from that of the genotype Mimogyaritus fasciatus http://bezbycids.com/byciddb/wdetails.asp?id=18621&w=o

Unfortunately, this species is not collected. Hope we can find this species again to ascertain if it is really different!
