Hi all,
I am currently trying to determine the systematic placement of Linopteriduis Fairmaire, for a paper that we are working on and the description of a new species.
Fairmaire placed the genus in Graciliini Mulsant whilst Aurivillius placed Psathyrissa (=Linopteriduis) in Oemini [= Xystrocerini Blanchard]. The key differential characteristic between the tribes is the ligula being corneous (Xystrocerini) or membranous (Graciliini)
I am most probably showing my level of ignorance, but could someone please explain how one sees the difference between a Corneous ligula and a membranous ligula...
on another note, Breuning & Villiers 1958 in their re-description of Linopteriduis state: ...Labium membranous, bilobed... Does this imply that the ligula is membranous???

Thanking you for the help.
