The two NHM specimens of Demonax viverra collected from Singapore are now available at
http://wallace-dev.tk/species/A-Arth-Hexa-Coleoptera-000400

It seems the 2 Singapore specimens shown here are not type, and even among themselves, they look different to me, both in pronotum spot & elytral band pattern, pronotum shape, and (admittedly difficult to tell in these old specimens) the antenna coloration!

Yes, of course , that is why I ask to horshehden to show us a "true" D. viverra...

Pascoe's description is insufficient to separate it from many other Demonax.

Have you ever seen a true D. vivera ? Could you show us a specimen ?
horshehden Posted - 21/05/2016 : 14:19:18
Though the photo is very poor I would say it is not D. viverra.

Clytus viverra.
C. cinereus, elongatus ; prothorace obsolete nigro-fasciato ;elytris linea curvata humerali media, alteraque lata versus apicem, nigris. Borneo.
Elongate, pubescent, cinereous grey ; prothorax oblong, elliptic, with an obscure black band ; elytra with a curved line near the shoulders, an arched band at the middle, and a broad one below, black; legs and antennae black, with a sparse ashy pubescence, the latter setaceous, rather shorter than the body, with the third and fourth joints strongly spined at the apex. Length 7 lines.
This and the above, with C. elongatidus and others, should probably form a distinct group, but the whole genus requires a revision.

Original description of Demonax viverra (Pascoe, 1858)
It fits well this specimen, but Pascoe already demanded a revision in 1858 !

I have almost the same sps from W-Papua, could it be Demonax viverra (Pascoe, 1858) described from Borneo and known up to New Guinea, the same here
without type study no chance for ID !
