I see advertised a species called Batocera bourdonei from Morotai Island.
Does anybody know who described this?

Pascoe described Batocera orpheus Pascoe, 1866 (syntypes from the islands of Morotai, Bacan, Ternate).
Rigout (1981) considered this to be a synonym of B. aeneonigra, however, he did not present a photograph.
So, it would be nice to see what some of Pascoe's syntypes look like. For those not familiar with Ebay sellers, many of them can (and do) mis-represent the identify of the species which they sell in order to get a lot more money.

I have been watching those listings as well. The only reference online for the species is at Coleoptera-Atlas.com: http://www.coleoptera-atlas.com/cerambycidae-chrysomeloidea/lamiinae/batocerini/batocera/article/batocera-bourdonei

On this same website, there is listed Batocera aeneonigra cf. melanic - also from Morotai with a maximum length of 66 mm, as stated for Batocera bourdonei. Looks a lot like a poorly marked aeneonigra to me, but - despite my love for the genus - I'm no expert on Batocera...

Hello Dan, I found no trace of a description for this species.
