Hello all.
I have never seen anything quite like this before. Could it be something new?

Posted - 28/03/2015 : 19:51:46 Thank you, very lucky to have obtained it! It is a shame that it is missing the tip of one of it's antennae and a claw. |

Posted - 24/03/2015 : 21:38:48 So, for its name, Thermonotus nigripennis Ritsema, 1896 or Thermonotus nigripennis coeruleipennis Aurivilius, 1911 |

Posted - 24/03/2015 : 00:49:13 The genus Thermonotus is revised in Breuning's large Lamiini-Revision from 1943. I have found a sps that could resemble to yours: T. coeruleipennis Aurivillius, 1911 (1913) described from Borneo, and stated as ab. in Breuning (1943). |

Posted - 22/03/2015 : 10:57:09 I am not sure to be honest! I wondered if there was a paper with a revision of this family, although it seems not to be the case. |

Posted - 21/03/2015 : 18:47:56 Thanks guys. I have looked at images of all the species I can find and none resemble this one, they also seem to be from the Borneo/Malaysia area. Is there a paper for this particular family available? |

Posted - 21/03/2015 : 18:06:53 It's a Thermonotus Gahan, 1888 acc the big pronotal spines, but the sp itself and the location are really interesting. |

Posted - 21/03/2015 : 17:37:47 Hello Ben I think that it is of the genus Thermonotus, to verify.
