Francesco was kind enough to forward a photo of a set specimen of G. manto. This allowed me to closely examine the two, and a couple of anomolies were seen. After reference back to Francesco, it now appears that the species is, indeed Glenea funerula funerula, which, still, is new to Thailand.
I would ask if anyone has a photo of a set specimen of this subspecies, not G. funerula javana, for inclusion in the paper I am writing, with due recognition, of course. |

Thank you for your encouragment. I will start working on a short note for publication. Not sure where would be best. I would be most grateful if you could email me a set photo (email in my profile).
It may be some time as I currently have 4 other papers in preparation on other insect orders! |

I think it is possible to publish a faunistic note basing on these photos; in all cases they are a documentation.
In addition, you can insert a picture of a prepared specimen of another locality (I can send it, if you need).
Maybe, it could be the way to obtain a permit in future times. |

Thank you for the confirmation which is a very nice, but at the same time frustrating, surprise.
I would love to do further work there, but I would need a collecting permit, which is very nearly impossible for an amateur foreigner in Thailand. |

In fact it is Glenea manto Pascoe, 1866 (second hypothesis).

Actually, it was very frustrating, as I saw a butterfly there that has never been found in Thailand before, only in Malaysia, but I have no proof!
It was flying so I could not get an acceptable photo.
I have looked at the picture in your photo gallery of G. funerula, and the markings on my specimen seem larger, but that may just be the ssp. I look forward to your key research results. |

Eh eh! By using a net all become cooperative.
It should be Glenea funerula or G. manto, but I have to check my keys. |
