My images were taken from the NMNH website many years before the book of types came out.
Steve Lingafelter's book of USNM types does not list this species.
Titan lists the type as being at NMNH (and says labeled as villosa).

Interesting, I have 3 spms from Zhejiang very similar or the same like Gerard one. At Larry's website is shown the same spm labeled as "villosa" at Smithonian website, maybe a mistake made by Breuning but otherwise why Larry called it "strandi", described is only one sps in this genus. |

I am afraid there is more mess with data about the Smithsonian specimen. The collector is indicated as J. Herrera, who seems to be a botanist who collected in South America. The collecting place is Poroma with no other indications. There is one such place in Bolivia (agrees with J. Herrera), and another Poroma is in PNG.
In the description of P. strandi, Breuning wrote: "The type is without place of origin in the collection of Tippmann." |

A mystery... Maybe Smithsonian specimen has a wrong label ? I do not find any Pterolamia villosa published.
Anyway, Gerard specimen could be a new species to described... |

Or... the same photos, which you cited above, are shown here under the name Pterolamia strandi. |

Interesting: the picture 1266 from Hua (2009) fits very well with the HP of Pterolamia villosa Breuning in Smithsonian Museum...which doesn't exist in Titan database or Biolib 
Gerard's species is another one, but the genus Pterolamia is monospecific... |
