Than you for the information concerning katsurai which one is clearly different. This report was probably from the border with China.

Thanks dear Claude Ripaille, you made my confusion clear. Please note, along with A. ornaticolle recently another species reported from India that is Aegosoma katsurai (Komiya, 2000).

Well, concerning the prioninae sub-family the elytral coloration is not a true criteria. When the majority of specimens from one species are brown, a few number could be clearer.
Here you have a specimen of A. ornaticolle (from China), all the morphological characters are the same. In addition, in India ornaticolle is the only species known (with may be sinicum ?)

But, as compare with this holotype, the above one looks different.

A.ornaticolle is a widespread species (China / India / Myanmar...)
kbdesai Posted - 07/02/2016 : 12:15:20
It is from India

Not in very good condition, but I think about Aegosoma ornaticolle male (White,1853)
