who knows the Mimosaimia fruhstorferi Breuning 1971, Breuning's descriptions are not very helpful as usual, and the Type deposition ?.

Thank you Max,

I too prefer using the earliest described taxon;
eventually the taxonomy will catch up.

Good question certainly. I have not assured answer here. They're probably synonymous taxa. Pic`s name older and my specimen and the specimen shown here match the type well so I tentatively prefer to call this beetle that. But I'd be interested in Junsuke Yamasako's opinion on the matter.

Max can you please clarify the difference between this taxon and Mimosaimia fruhstorferi Breuning 1971?

IDs here seem very similar.

Thanks

Thank for the clarification Max.

Well it`s described from Yunnan so not that far from the type locality in any case. I have a specimen from N Vietnam too.

Thanks, only known from China though?

I would say Mesosa basinodosa (Pic, 1925)
