Borneo, Kalimantan, Mt. Bawang, 16 mm.

The same species shown here as Eurymesosa ventralis (Pascoe)... but very different from other specimens shown in this forum.

Ok, do I see the solution ?
I think that there is a confusion between 2 species: one from Cambodia/Laos, etc, and one from Malaisia and probably Java/Borneo.

Borneo species could be this one:


Mesosa allapsa Pascoe, 1866 which is not synonym of Eurymesosa ventralis (Pascoe, 1865).
You can also check the holotype picture of Mesosa nigromaculata Pic, 1932 here, third species in this mix.

allapsa is incorrectly synonymized with ventralis. someone else has observed this and is working to publish it.
